We didn’t study operations from the outside. We built a $1.5 billion retailer from the ground up: 85,000 products, 1,700 suppliers, 14 warehouses, and millions of orders. We lived inside the machine every single day.

We know what 3 AM looks like when a shipment fails and the system doesn’t flag it. We’ve seen the spreadsheets that hold entire supply chains together. The emails nobody answers. The credit notes that vanish between systems. We felt every broken process on our own P&L.

Every day, the same pattern: brilliant people doing repetitive work between disconnected systems. Copying data from SAP into a spreadsheet. Chasing a supplier by email. Checking whether a deduction actually landed. Not because they wanted to because nothing else would.
